The transition older youth need
For an older child who cannot safely return home or re-enter formal school, vocational training can offer direction. But training alone does not resolve trauma, establish readiness or guarantee a safe transition into work. SkillPath begins before a placement is made.
From readiness to placement
The pathway connects recovery and readiness assessment with careful matching, child-safe artisan training and, where appropriate, recognised assessment or certification. Interests, strengths, location and safeguarding considerations shape the pathway rather than forcing every young person through the same course.
The outcome is sustained participation
Completion is not the final measure. RMFSL follows livelihood transitions at 4, 8 and 12 weeks to understand whether participation, conditions and stability are holding. In 2025, 52 older youth participated and 47 retained their livelihood placements at the 12-week point.
